Private Danube River Run - 9km
Experience Bratislava from both sides of the Danube River.
It is a “must-do” to see Bratislava from both sides of Danube river, to cross the two Danube bridges, to see the old town, to view the new modern part of Bratislava and to experience the oldest public park in middle-eastern Europe. We start in front of the Presidential Palace and run towards Michael’s Gate through which we enter the Old Town to Michalská street.
We have a closer look at the buildings which almost all of them are Slovak national heritage. We continue around the Hungarian Royal Chamber Palace towards the main square with the Roland Fountain and old Town Hall. Here we get a firsthand view of the Primatial Square with the beautiful pink colored Primatial Palace which, was built as a winter residence for archbishop of Esztergom. On the way to the Danube river we will pass Academia Istropolitana, the first university on the territory of Slovakia, and then we run out of the Old Town through Fisherman’s gate where the Slovak National Theatre (SND) is located. Running along the river we will pass the Slovak National Museum, a new modern part next to the new Slovak National Theatre.
Running over the Apollo Bridge, we reach the other side of the Danube River where we get incredible views of the Old Town, the new part of the city and the Bratislava Castle. We continue through the oldest public park in middle-eastern Europe and over the Bridge of the SNP- Slovak National Uprising. Finally, we return to the Old Town to see St. Martin‘s Cathedral and run along the old medieval fortifications where we will then find ourselves back at the meeting point on Hodžovo square.
